Every day in everyone's body, thousands of potential cancer cells are created, but they don't reach a clinical status, because lymphocytes in our immune system act as sentinels in recognizing and eliminating continuously arising nascent transformed cells, where the immune system alone is enough to detect and eliminate before the potential tumor reaches a clinical threshold.
